Hoover Dam Tour

The 2008 CHC Lifting Conference featuring Focus Forward, Part 1: Bridge Infrastructure will include a tour of the Hoover Dam Bypass work site on Thursday, December 4, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Tour Overview

The Colorado River Bridge is the central portion of the Hoover Dam Bypass Project. Construction on the nearly 2,000 foot long bridge began in late January 2005 and the completion of the entire Hoover Dam Bypass Project is expected in June 2010.

When completed, this signature bridge will span the Black Canyon (about 1,600 feet south of the Hoover Dam), connecting the Arizona and Nevada Approach highways nearly 900-feet above the Colorado River.

Dave Zanetell, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) expert at the Hoover Dam Bypass work site will provide a tour of the project. Participants will meet Zanetell at the Hoover Dam vistor center to view a model of the bridge and progress from the observation deck.

Transportation from the Rio Hotel and box lunches will be provided to conference registrants for an additional $15. For registration information, please click here. For tour sponsorship information, please click here.
